Among the numerous programming languages in our wired world, Java is one of the most popular of the bunch for many reasons. Two of these reasons are the convenience with which it can be accessed for free over the Internet and the ease with which it can be learned. For these reasons, there are many J2EE developer jobs that crop up in a stable manner, often defying the odds of the downturns in the job market.

Just like with other programming jobs, however, you have to pass certain criteria before you can get a foot into the J2EE jobs available. Fortunately, said requirements are easy to meet just as long as you are interested in learning your way.

Higher Education

In general, it is not required of Java programmers to possess a college diploma since almost anybody can understand the language given certain information. However, it is an advantage considering that many, if not most, of employers require Java programmers to at least have a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science and in similar fields.

This is because the education and training provided in these degree courses prepare the individual for J2EE developer jobs. Said training as it applies to the J2EE jobs include:
  • Design and development of programs utilizing Java-based technologies
  • Modification and reuse of existing Java codes
  • Development of back-end and front-end Java systems
  • Provision of continuing application support
  • Debug and test of codes
  • Consultation with IT management and staff
  • Demonstration of knowledge of other programming languages like SQL and Oracle
Yes, indeed, if you can, then do get your 4-year college diploma. It will pay off most handsomely in the form of more job opportunities even in a down economy.

Self-Learning

Of course, if your bachelor's degree is not related to computer science, you can always learn the Java language on your own. You can still have an advantage in J2EE developer jobs by demonstrating your expertise in the language even without formal education. In fact, it can even be in your favor because it shows that you are a self-motivated individual, a highly desirable trait for most employers.

First, you should install the java programming software into your computer, which can be accessed for free in its official website. The Java Development Kit contains all the programming tools necessary for writing, debugging and running the language for beginners.

Second, you must go through the tutorials in the website. Of course, you need to start with the basic tutorials as these are necessary to understand the more advanced lessons, which can be confusing to the uninitiated.

Third, you have to read through books on the Java language. This is in addition to the online tutorials. At the very least, you can read the books in your downtime, thus, leading to faster entry into J2EE developer jobs.

Fourth, if possible, you can take Java classes. You may either opt to go online or take classes in the college of your choice. And of course, it is very important to practice writing the codes. After all, practice makes perfect and soon enough J2EE jobs will be yours for the taking.

In conclusion, J2EE developer jobs are very desirable because of the flexibility they offer in addition to the stable and more than sufficient income that they bring.
